Newberg Youth Cheer is a fun, high-energy program where athletes build confidence, develop skills, and create lasting friendships through cheerleading. Whether your child is brand new or returning for another season, there’s a place for them here.
Newberg Youth Cheer is proudly operated by Chehalem Park & Recreation District, in partnership with Tumblebears Gym, combining strong program leadership with specialized skill development support.
A Program That Grows With Your Athlete
Newberg Youth Cheer is designed as a year-round program, giving families a clear path to get started and continue building skills over time.
Fall Sideline Cheer
August–October, with November showcase
Our core season and the best place to start.
Athletes will learn cheer fundamentals, build teamwork skills, and perform together at local youth football games in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
- Open to grades K–8
- No experience required
- Practices held twice per week
- Saturday game day performances
Practice Schedule (anticipated):
- Youth (K–5th grade):
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4:30–5:30 PM - Middle School (6th–8th grade):
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30–6:30 PM
Program Structure:
- Youth Sideline (K–5th grade)
- Junior Sideline (6th–8th grade)
- Athletes looking for additional skill development are encouraged to participate in Tumbling classes offered year-round
Winter Cheer Team
November–February, with potential additional events
Take the next step in your cheer journey.
The Winter Cheer Team builds on skills developed during the Fall Sideline season and introduces more structured routines, performance elements, and team development in a focused environment.
- Open to grades 3–8
- Participation in Fall Sideline Cheer is required
- Practices increase to two 1.5-hour sessions per week
- Participation in 2–3 local competitions and Community Events
This program is designed for athletes who are ready for a higher level of commitment and team experience.
